Hi, I’m Rosie

I love reading and I’m passionate about getting kids into books!

As a mum and English teacher, I know the demands on parents and children; I know why reading is important and I understand why children and young people don’t read. I set up Get Kids Reading to help parents who know that reading is important to their child’s academic success, but have little time to check, encourage or promote reading. If this is you, you’ve come to the right place!

If you’re a parent with school-aged younglings then the chances are a teacher will have had a conversation with you about the importance of reading… probably multiple times.

Developing confident readers is high on everyone’s agenda at the moment, which I reckon is because children and young people need to do it to succeed in education and the world of work, but they have so many demands on their time, and so many distractions…

So, you may well be that parent who’s listened as your child’s teacher has said: “Jimmy really needs to read more,” and sat there thinking Oh no! Not this again! Have you got a magic wand?

Or, your children might not yet be at school, but you know that this is the ideal time to nurture a love of reading in them. Either way, this blog is for you!
